Chandigarh, June 30

Jai Krishan Singh Rouri was today elected the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. His name was proposed by Talwandi Sabo MLA Baljinder Kaur and his candidature was seconded by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema.

Rouri is an MLA from Garhshankar and a two-time AAP MLA. A man from a humble background, he was a videographer and also did farming. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated him on his election.

MLAs from all parties congratulated him. Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal of the Congress, Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi of the SAD and Ashwani Sharma of the BJP assured him full support.
