Jal Jeevan Mission team inspects Rs 397cr water project

A team from the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water to rural households, today visited Patrewala village near Abohar to review the progress of a major project. The team included deputy director Amit Kumar and tactical officer G Beg.

Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu presided over a meeting at the surface water-based mega water project site. The DC said a canal water-based waterworks was being constructed at Patrewala at a cost of Rs 397 crore, of which 84 per cent work had been completed. She said it would supply water to 122 villages. Of the 442-km planned pipeline, 408 km has already been laid. The project is expected to be completed by September.

Superintending Engineer of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department Ritesh Garg said with the completion of the project, clean drinking water would reach all villages of Abohar and Khuian Sarwar development blocks.
