A motorcyclist was killed when a speeding car reportedly hit his bike from the rear near Eastwood Village on the national highway on Tuesday night.

The victim has been identified as Ravi Kumar of Jalandhar. He was travelling to Khatti village, near Phagwara, along with his wife Kamaljit Kaur  to meet relatives.

The car driver fled after hitting them. Kamaljit also sustained injuries.

The police have registered a case under Sections 304A, 336 and 279, IPC, against the unknown driver.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination conducted at the local Civil Hospital.
