The police have arrested a husband-wife duo with 272 grams of heroin. The accused, Balwinder Singh and his wife Sarabjit Kaur, hail from Rohera in Haryana’s Jind district.
The police said the couple was intercepted near Faridkot and the contraband was recovered from them. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Sadar Kotkapura police station, and both accused have been remanded in the police custody.
Investigations reveal that the heroin was supplied to them by a trafficker from border district of Ferozepur, and was meant to be transported to Haryana by rail for further distribution. The police have also named the suppliers and receivers in the case and said the arrests would follow soon.
SSP Dr Pragya Jain said the police were committed to dismantling the supply chains linking Punjab’s border areas with traffickers in Haryana.
