Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Kumar on Sunday asked party workers to hit the streets and hold dharnas against the state government’s land pooling policy, saying his party would stand “rock solid” behind farmers.
He also reiterating that the BJP would go solo in the 2027 Assembly polls.
Opposing the land poling policy, Sharma said, “The government, which calls itself pro-farmer, has made farmers in the state miserable. The AAP is rendering farmers with land landless. The BJP strongly condemns the policy.
Speaking on the possibility of an alliance with the SAD, he said, “Preparations are on to contest all 117 seats in the state.”
Asked whether he disagreed with BJP state president Sunil Jakhar over the issue, he said, “If you read Jakhar’s entire statement and see the words used by him, this question wouldn’t arise.”
In a programme attended by party leaders Manoranajan Kalia, KD Bandari, Rakesh Rathour, Sushil Rinku and Sheetal Angural, he said if anyone could emerge as Punjab’s hope, it’s the BJP. “AAP has lost base and support among people,” he added.
