Judicial officers urged to expedite case resolution at Lok Adalats
Rajwant Kaur, the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, visited Phagwara to review the city’s legal aid services and Lok Adalat operations. During her visit, she underscored the urgent need to expedite case resolutions through Lok Adalat, aiming to benefit litigants by resolving disputes swiftly.
Kaur held discussions with judicial officers and legal aid panel lawyers, emphasising the importance of settling as many cases as possible in the upcoming National Lok Adalat, scheduled for March 8. She urged officials to actively encourage litigants to opt for amicable resolutions and make the most of Lok Adalat’s efficient process.
The Secretary also stressed raising public awareness about the advantages of Lok Adalat, particularly in resolving civil and petty criminal cases without the lengthy delays of traditional litigation. She instructed officials to enhance outreach programs and ensure that those eligible for free legal aid receive proper support.
Legal officials and representatives assured full cooperation in implementing these directives. Kaur reiterated that swift case disposal through Lok Adalat helps alleviate court congestion and provides much-needed relief to the general public.
