The cracks have appeared between Lakh Warian and Passan Kadim villages. Meanwhile, the water flow in the river was recorded at 2.12 lakh cusecs, down from 2.21 lakh cusecs reported a day ago. So far, standing crops have been damaged on 37,335 acres in flood-hit 105 villages, of which 70 are in Sultanpur Lodhi.
Earlier, earthen embankments had been breached Bhaini Bahadur near Baupur, Ahli Kalan and Chak Patti Baloo Bahadur villages. The administration had on Sunday asked residents of low-lying villages to immediately leave their homes, apprehending the worsening of the flood situation due to incessant rain.
Bohr Singh Hazara, a resident of the Hazara village, said “So far, only advance bundhs have been breached. The cracks in the dhussi bundh should be repaired at the earliest. The soil has been rendered moist by repeated rain.”
