Acting on a petition filed by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered keeping in abeyance further proceedings in pursuance to an order passed by Punjab Lokpal.

In her petition filed through counsel R Kartikeya, Bibi Jagir Kaur had challenged January 8 order passed by the Lokpal, in terms of which a regular inquiry was directed under the provisions of the Punjab Lokpal Act pertaining to a complaint dated August 24, 2011.

Referring to the order, Kartikeya argued it was noticed by the Lokpal that the complaint was regarding nagar panchayat land being in possession of a school set up on common land and how the land changed hands to come to vest with the society running the school. — TNS
