Kejriwal avoids answering questions related to farm laws during meeting with union leaders in Mansa

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal arrived in Mansa on Thursday for a two-day visit to the southern Malwa region of Punjab.

Although he was warmly welcomed by the party leaders, he avoided answering questions from the farmers’ organisations in a closed room meeting held at Mansa.

He was accompanied by other leaders, including Bhagwant Mann.

Singh Udat said, “Farmer union leaders asked questions on farm laws and Section 370 to him, on which he did not reply, due to which we were not satisfied with him.”

It may be recalled that Kejriwal had come here to talk to about 300 farmers at the Heritage Resort about the plight of the farmers, including the cotton and paddy yields destroyed by the pink bollworm.

Before talking to farmers, he had stopped to meet the leaders of the farmers’ organisations and the talks were arranged by local party leaders with Kejriwal.

Moreover, local media has been kept out by Kejriwal and AAP leadership and even media has not been formally invited to any of his events in this two days tour of southern Punjab.

While talking to The Tribune, AAP Punjab spokesperson Neel Garg said, “Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with Sanyukt Kisan Morcha farmer leaders and gave answers to their questions in Mansa.”

Replying to the allegation of farmer unions that Kejriwal did not answer their questions over farm laws and Section 370, Neel said he didn’t know about this.

On media being ignored during Kejriwal’s visit, Neel Garg said, “Media is an important part of society but this time Kejriwal is holding closed door meetings with traders and farmers to know about their grievances and issues, which will be listed in the AAP manifesto.”
