MP Kang stated that the family members met him with a heavy heart as their loved ones were kidnapped after landing in Tehran on September 25. The three were victims of a cross-border scam and were lured by unscrupulous travel agents for their legal settlement in Canada. The family was deceitfully routed through Dubai to Iran, where in Tehran it was kidnapped at Imam Khomeini International Airport by miscreants allegedly linked to an agent, said Kang. He added that since then they were held captive and ransom was being demanded from the family.

“I went to the MEA in New Delhi to take up the matter with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The ministry’s intervention brought a sigh of relief to the family and their relatives, besides ensuring their secure repatriation,” added Kang.
