Members of various social and political outfits, farm union leaders and family of the deceased sarpanch Jashan Bawa of Tarinda village, who had allegedly committed suicide on May 31, today held a massive protest in front of the Lakho ke Behram police station. The protesters were demanding the registration of an FIR against Guruharsahahi MLA Fauja Singh Sarari and his PA Bachitar Singh, alias Laddi, for allegedly driving Jashan to take the extreme step.

Addressing the gathering, Raminder Awla, ex-MLA, said Jashan did not commit suicide, but his death should be considered as “murder”, adding that it was due to the efforts of workers like Jashan that Sarari got elected as MLA, but they later started forcing Jashan “to shell out money”. "We will continue our fight till the time justice was delivered to Jashan,” said Awla.
