Kuldeep Dhaliwal demands return of Punjab youths stuck in Russia

Amid media reports about Indian youth forcefully inducted in the Russian Armed Forces and sent for Ukraine war, Punjab NRIs Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal raised the matter with Ministry of External Affairs and Russian Ambassador to India.

Raising the matter in Punjab Legislative Assembly, Mr Dhaliwal said it is a serious matter, which should be resolved at the earliest as the majority of these youngsters, belonging to Punjab, went to Russia on visitor visa but have been forcefully inducted into Russian military services. He added that one of them died during the war.

Mr Dhaliwal urged that appropriate action must be taken to provide suitable help to the these youths to return home. He demanded that necessary action be taken against violators of the Immigration Act. He said some media reports revealed that these youngsters were duped by agents on the promise of jobs and forced to work as a “helper” for the Russian Army.

Dhaliwal also demanded that the body of the youth, who died during the war, should be brought back. He demanded that the Union Government must immediately intervene in the matter, adding that seven youngsters from, including Gagandeep Singh, Lovepreet Singh, Narain Singh, Gurpreet Singh (21) and Gurpreet Singh (23) are stuck in the Ukraine war zone.
