The Forests and Wildlife Department today rescued a six-year-old male leopard from Amraali village in Morinda. In the past fortnight, pugmarks were spotted in fields in Morinda and Kharar.

Today, residents of Amraali village spotted the leopard on a tree and informed the wildlife team.

Kulraj Singh Randhawa, DFO, Ropar range, said, “On seeing the team, the leopard ran into paddy fields. Around 5 pm, we were able to track and tranquilise it.” Officials said the cat had been sent to Chhatbir Zoo.
