Kusht Ashram in Islamganj observed Leprosy Day with an event dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals affected by leprosy. Civil Surgeon Dr Pradeep Mohindra and District Leprosy Officer Dr Preeti Gautam attended the event, leading initiatives for patient welfare

During the event, essential aid such as MCR footwear, crutches, self-care kits, and medications were distributed to those in need, helping improve mobility, prevent complications, and enhance the quality of life for affected individuals.

Dr Mohindra stressed the importance of early diagnosis, continuous treatment, and social inclusion to eliminate the stigma surrounding leprosy, while also emphasising the government’s commitment to providing free treatment services.

Dr Gautam educated the attendees on self-care practices and preventive measures to minimise the risk of disabilities caused by leprosy.
