A contingent led by Lok Insaaf Party leader Simarjit Singh Bains left for Delhi from here today after performing ardas at Akal Takht for the success of the farm struggle.

Bains said farmer leader Rakesh Tikait would be presented with a gold axe in recognition of his services for the farmers’ cause at the Ghazipur border on Saturday.

Earlier, the Lok Insaf Party had sent jathas under the name of “Delhi Chalo-Morcha Mallo” from Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana and Phagwara to strengthen the farmers’ protest against the Centre. “We also organised a bicycle march urging people to join the struggle,” he said.

Appealing to the leaders of all political parties to put aside their ideological differences, he said: “It is the duty of all MLAs and MPs of the state to strengthen the agitation. During the all-party meet, I had suggested to the CM that we all should organise a joint dharna,” he said. — TNS
