‘Lohri Mela of Daughters’ celebrated for 29th year

The 29th edition of the ‘Lohri Mela of Daughters’ was organised by the Malwa Cultural Forum Punjab, bringing together the community to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and honor the daughters of the region. During the event, 125 young girls were presented with gifts such as clothes, toys, sweets, and shawls for their mothers, making it a heartwarming occasion for all.

Mani Khiva distributed bottles of milk, Rahul Jindal from Hambran presented 125 boxes of sweets, Ashok Varmani gifted toys, and Simmi Kwatra handed out suits to the children. Additionally, Smt. Sunder Kaur, the mother of Rana Jhande, sent shawls for the mothers of the children.

The Sohan Singh Bhakna Memorial Award was given to Gurjatinder Singh Randhawa, the Jagdev Singh Jassowal Memorial Award to Ashok Bhaura, and the Sant Singh Sekhon Memorial Award to Dalbir Singh Kathuria.

In addition to the awards, the function featured performances by popular Punjabi singers who sang songs celebrating daughters.

Prominent social worker Umrao Singh, who traveled from Himachal, distributed Lohri laddus in celebration of his granddaughter, while newlyweds Arjun Bawa and Manjot Bawa were honored with shawls.

The event was organised under the patronage of Chairman Krishan Kumar Bawa, President Jasvir Singh Rana Jhande, Chairperson Simmi Kwatra, and President Inderjit Kaur Obroi.
