The MC continues to carry fogging in residential areas, and the teams from the Health Department have continued to go to shops and houses to check for dengue larvae. Challans are also being slapped on anyone who was negligent.

The only case of dengue so far has been reported at Model Town here. Sources said a bank employee who was posted in Bath was the only patient, and he visits his home about once a week. He came to Abohar yesterday and had a fever. When he was tested, it was confirmed to be dengue.

Fogging being done to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.

MC Sanitation Inspectors Jaswinder Singh and Kartar Singh said fogging was being done in the city by their team, adding that about 100 challans have been issued for negligence so far with penalties ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000.

The Civil Hospital Nodal Officer, Dharamvir Arora and the programme coordinator, Tehal Singh, said in the last two months, their team had issued 150 challans during the inspection of houses, shops, and establishments, adding that out of that 100 people were fined. They said in the last few days, samples of 89 people who had dengue-like symptoms have been taken by the Health Department, adding that a total of eight samples were taken today. They said the teams were apprising people of the symptoms of dengue and urging them to visit hospitals if they observe something wrong in the body.
