The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa condemned the BJP-led Haryana Government for its use of excessive force, including firing tear gas shells, to block a peaceful march of Punjab farmers heading to Delhi.

The farmers, organised under the banner of ‘Marjeevda Jatha,’ were marching to demand the legalisation of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other key agricultural reforms.

The march, which commenced as a foot rally by 101 farmers on Friday, reached the Shambhu border, where they encountered heavy resistance from the Haryana Police. Bajwa said, “The police is heavily deployed at all critical points by the Haryana Government. Tear gas shells have been fired at the farmers, thus leading to serious injuries.”

He added that the government led by Nayab Singh Saini was bent on stifling the peaceful protest of the farmers. “The Haryana Government must understand that the farmers are not protesting in their state. They are using Haryana as a route to reach Delhi,” said Bajwa.
