Despite the ongoing third wave of Covid, thousands of people today gathered here to pay obeisance at the historic gurdwaras and take a dip in the ‘sarovar’ (holy pond), on the occasion of Maghi. Notably, a three-day annual ‘mela’ is organised in Muktsar in the memory of the 40 ‘Muktas’ (liberated ones), who laid down their lives while fighting the Mughals in 1705 in Muktsar, earlier known as ‘Khidrane di dhab’. —
