Patiala, August 8
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia today appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) and answered queries for around two hours in connection with a drugs-related case.
Headed by Patiala (Range) DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, the SIT grilled Majithia over his financial transactions and links with those named in the case.
Talking to the media after deposing before the SIT, Majithia said he deposed before a political SIT for the seventh time today out of total 11 times that he was summoned. He said he could not come on four occasions because of some court cases and that the SIT was well aware of the dates of hearing in those cases, but it issued summons on those dates to facilitate AAP leader Sanjay Singh against whom he had filed a defamation case.
He alleged that CM Bhagwant Mann was the real head of the SIT and he should directly call him to his residence, instead of repeatedly using the SIT for calling him.
Majithia was booked in December 2021 on the basis of a 2018 report submitted by anti-drugs STF head Harpreet Singh Sidhu.
