Following the directives of Akal Takht, former minister and senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia appeared at the Sikhs’ highest temporal seat today to submit his clarification and pay obeisance.

Majithia, who served as the revenue minister during the decade-long SAD-BJP alliance government, expressed his loyalty to Akal Takht, stating: “I am devoted to Akal Takht. As per the orders, I appeared before Akal Takht and submitted my clarification today. Whatever verdict comes from Akal Takht, I am bound to accept it.”

When questioned about rebel Akalis who claimed they were not part of controversial decisions, Majithia remarked: “Almighty’s Takht knows everything.”

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal was earlier declared ‘tankhaiya’ by Akal Takht during a meeting of the five high priests held on August 30. Seventeen Akalis, who served as ministers in the SAD Cabinet between 2007 and 2017, were instructed by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh to appear in person and provide written clarifications regarding their involvement in decisions that tarnished the Panth’s image and weakened the party. They were given a 15-day period to comply with the orders.

The Akal Takht Jathedar has already directed Akalis from both factions to avoid making statements or engaging in mudslinging against each other until the Takht’s verdict is issued, warning that any violations would be considered a breach of the sanctity and supremacy of Akal Takht. Those found in violation could face action according to “Panthic rehat maryada”.
