Malerkotla cops demonstrate crowd control techniques
The Malerkotla police have started imparting crowd handling and riot control skills to its personnel. The SHOs and beat officers have been directed to ensure that all cops under their jurisdiction are aware of crowd management.
Malerkotla SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said cops posted at several wings of all three subdivisions had been imparted fundamental tips on handling crowd and anti-social elements during tough situations.
The police personnel were also asked to use “Vajras” and other paraphernalia under their supervision as part of mock drill being conducted at the district level.
“The people were called to act as protesters and rioters during the mock drill. The police personnel exhibited professional skills in managing the mob,” the SSP added.
DSP (Special Branch) Ranjit Singh Bains said the SHOs and beat officers had been advised to ensure that cops working under their jurisdiction were well versed in crowd management and riot control techniques.
“Though we are given intensive training in riot control and crowd management during the course work, mock drills are arranged to check preparedness of our force,” said Bains.
