Addressing a meeting of circle officers and SHOs of the district, Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh appreciated the role played by police personnel in handling situations following acquisition of land acquired for construction of Delhi-Katra highway under the NHAI project at Saraud. He called upon cops to be polite and courteous under all circumstances.

“Had even a single cop lost cool while dealing with farmers trying to reach the spot where land was acquired by the administration, we could have failed to save the image and dignity of the force that is known for its valour and humility across the world,” he said.

In an attempt to lead by example, the SSP advised the staff at his office to ensure that minimum inconvenience was caused to complainants and defendants visiting the District Police Office.

“Make sure that women, elderly and differently abled persons, who feel difficulty in attending a particular office at the complex are heard at a location convenient to them,” said Singh. He added that he will also be attending these people by reaching out to them.

Stressing the need to strictly adhere to Punjab Police’s ethical standard and good conduct, the SSP advised NGOs and in-charges of various offices to ensure that basic manners and appropriate conduct are reiterated to all from time to time.

He cautioned that anyone who displays arrogance and disrespect towards the public, colleagues or subordinates will be dealt with accordingly.

He encouraged the public to report discourteous and arrogant cops to his office or nearest police station so that the motto of the police, ‘May I never ever shirk from doing good deeds,’ is followed by all in letter and spirit.
