A 42-year-old man, Balbir Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur, was found dead in his room yesterday near a hot-mix plant in Kala Tibba village, 8 km from here. The police said he was working as a truck driver.
The police said Balbir had a medical problem related to a high temperature. The medical practitioner who examined him observed that it was a case of heatstroke as the temperature had risen to over 40°C. The practitioner said that after consuming medicine, Balbir returned to his room and was advised to rest. His co-workers found him dead in the room.
