The Deputy Superintendent of Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that Balbir Singh’s intent was not to cause harm to anyone. Instead, he used this substance to hunt pigs and other animals from across the border. The incident occurred when someone tampered with the bricks, causing the materials to ignite like a firecracker.

The police said appropriate legal action was being taken against Balbir Singh for illegal possession of such materials and their misuse in hunting animals. They said an FIR under Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, has been registered at the Vairoke police station, and the suspect, Balbir Singh, has been arrested.

The DSP said it was suspected that the suspect was using gun powder or some other explosive to make the crackers.
