Man killed for being privy to Amritpal’s secrets: SIT
The special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder of Gurpreet Singh in Hari Nau village of Faridkot has claimed in a challan submitted before the Additional District and Sessions Judge in Faridkot that he was killed for being in the know of sensitive secrets about Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh.
According to the chargesheet, Gurpreet Singh, a former close associate of Amritpal Singh, had knowledge of the MP’s alleged ties with gangsters Jaipal Bhullar and Arsh Dalla.
Investigators claimed that despite publicly positioning himself as the leader of Waris Punjab De, Amritpal was not officially part of the organisation. Allegedly fearing exposure, Amritpal conspired to have Gurpreet eliminated.
The police alleged that Amritpal contacted Arsh Dalla, a designated terrorist in Canada, who then instructed Karambir Singh, alias Gora Brar, to execute the killing. Gora contacted his friend Bilal Ahmed, a sepoy in the Army and resident of Hari Nau village.
To track Gurpreet’s movement, Gora sent his photograph to Bilal via social media. Bilal then engaged his associates, Guramardeep Singh, alias Pontu, and Arshdeep Singh, alias Jhandu, who provided crucial details about Gurpreet’s whereabouts.
Investigators have placed call details and mobile data analysis on record. They claimed that after gathering intelligence, Arsh Dalla contacted his jailed gang member Laxman Singh, alias Lachhu, who then facilitated a link with Navjot Singh, alias Neetu.
Neetu then roped in Anmolpreet Singh, alias Vishal, to carry out the murder. On October 9, 2024, Dalla arranged a stolen motorcycle and weapons from Mansa for the accused.
