Man killed over monetary dispute, 8 held

Eight persons were arrested for allegedly murdering a resident of Janta Nagar over a monetary dispute on Sunday evening.
SHO of Dhuri city police station Aditya said Harpreet Kaur, wife of deceased Gurdeep Singh (35), had alleged that the accused—Akashdeep Singh, Jashandeep Singh, Niki, Harshdeep Sigh, Simardeep Singh, Baljit Singh, Sagar and Sahil—had committed the crime over non-payment of a loan amount.
The SHO said: “The deceased, Gurdeep Singh, was attacked outside his house with a sharp-edged weapon and sticks, following which he succumbed to the injuries. After getting information, the police reached the spot and nabbed all accused, except Sagar, who has been hospitalised in Chandigarh after he received injuries during the face-off.”
“During investigations, it came to light that Harpreet Kaur had an acrimonious relationship with neighbour Nikki over some monetary dispute which led to an attack,” said the SHO.
He said a case had been registered under Sections 302, 459, 323, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
