Sangrur: A dera head allegedly fired at a resident of Harigarh village on Tuesday. A case has been registered by the police. “Dera head Gurdeep Singh fired at another village resident, Jasvir Singh, over some petty issue. We are conducting investigation while the injured is undergoing treatment,” said Dirba DSP Prithvi Singh Chahal. TNS

Jawan held for infant’s murder

Muktsar: The police have nabbed Army jawan Satnam Singh, who along with his parents, allegedly killed his 10-month-old daughter at Ranjitgarh village on Sunday. Satnam was produced before a court on Tuesday, which sent him to police custody. TNS

3 booked for culpable homicide

Faridkot: The police have registered a case of culpable homicide against three men on Tuesday after a youth allegedly died of drug overdose at Beguwala village. The victim’s father alleged that the accused had administered drugs to his son and had dropped him at his house in an inebriated state. He died shortly after. TNS

Staffer dupes bank of Rs 36L

Faridkot: A case has been registered against Ankit Kumar, former Agriculture Loan Officer (ALO) of Axis Bank, for allegedly duping the bank of Rs 36 lakh. In a complaint to the police, the bank manager alleged that the ALO procured signed blank cheques from four farmers and transferred the amount to his personal account. TNS

Lyricist seeks security

Mohali: Punjabi lyricist and music composer Janni has sought security cover from the police. He cited death threats to himself and his manager, Dilraj Singh Nandha. In a letter to the CM, ADGP and Mohali SSP, the 33-year-old stated that he has received several death threats from gangsters.
