Hoshiarpur: Man, two daughters die in roof collapse

A migrant and two of his daughters were killed after the roof of their house collapsed amid heavy rain at Abiyapur on Thursday morning. His two other daughters and wife were injured in the incident. The house was reportedly in a dilapidated condition.

The incident occurred around 5.30 am while the family was asleep. Hearing a loud noise, local people rushed to the site and began the rescue work to extricate the family members buried under the debris.

All of them were taken out from the debris and rushed to a hospital. Shankar Mandal, a native of Bihar, and his daughters Shivani Devi and Pooja were killed in the incident. His wife Priyanka and daughters Kavita and Preeti continue to be under treatment at the Tanda government hospital. MLA Jasvir Raja said the government would provide assistance to the affected family.
