Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday dedicated 13 Schools of Eminence to people of the state.

Inaugurating the School of Eminence at Indrapuri here, Mann said after Delhi, now Punjab was witnessing a major revolution in the field of education and these schools were a reflection of it. Mann said that this was a momentous occasion and the day was not far when Punjab would be a top-ranking state.

At the same time, Kejriwal took a dig at the Governor. He said despite the Centre and Governor Banwarilal Purohit were harassing Mann government, the party was on a development spree in the state. Kejriwal said the Central Government was sitting on the Rs 8,000 crore state’s funds. The funds belonged to the people of Punjab, he said.

Meanwhile, Mann said the initiative would ensure the access of students, especially poor and underprivileged sections, to the quality education. The day was not far when students from these schools would excel in every field.

The Chief Minister said the credit of bringing people to the centrestage of polity went to Kejriwal, who had forced the parties to change their agendas as per need of people. He said instead of Sankalp Pattars or election manifestos, the political parties are now giving guarantees of welfare to the people.

The Delhi Chief Minister said it was heartening to be among the people on the occasion. He said on the first glance of the school, no one could even imagine that this was a government school, adding that if private schools would have come up on this level, then they would have charged huge fees.

Both dedicated schools in Ludhiana, Adampur in Jalandhar, at Mall Mandi, Mall Road and Jandiala Guru in Amritsar, at Parasram Nagar and Ram Nagar in Bathinda, at Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib, at Jalalabad West and Arniwala Sheikh Suban at Fazilka, at Phagwara in Kapurthala, in Phase 11 at SAS Nagar and at Khadoor Sahib in Tarn Taran. They also took a round of the building of the school.

Three inaugurated in Amritsar alone

The newly inaugurated schools are situated in Ludhiana; Adampur in Jalandhar; at Mall Mandi, Mall Road and Jandiala Guru in Amritsar; at Parasram Nagar and Ram Nagar in Bathinda; at Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib; at Jalalabad (West) and Arniwala Sheikh Suban in Fazilka; at Phagwara in Kapurthala; in Phase XI at SAS Nagar and Khadoor Sahib in Tarn Taran
