Arrests so far
Anwar Masih is a former member of the Subordinate Service Selection Board.
AdvertisementThis is the ninth arrest in the case. The police have already arrested eight persons, including Ankush Kapoor, Afghanistan national Arman Basharmal Punjabi actor Mantej Singh and money exchanger Harneet Singh.
He was arrested under Section 25 of the NDPS Act as he was the owner of the property from where drug trade was being carried out. According to the police, Masih’s house was being used by the accused for refining and manufacturing drugs for over a month before the racket was busted.
STF authorities said despite being given time to prove the tenancy of his property, Masih could not come up with any documents to show that he had rented out the premises after due diligence, as claimed by him. Masih had claimed that he had rented the house to cloth trader Ankush Kapoor and gym trainer Sukhwinder Singh who had approached him from a common contact. He had also claimed that he had sold the property and taken surety money from a person. He was produced before the duty magistrate who sent him to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the interrogation of Malkeet Singh and Kuldeep Singh, who were arrested by the STF two days ago, revealed that they used to ferry drugs in a ‘kar sewa’ vehicle. They were nabbed from a dera in Patiala, it is learnt.
