Being the sole woman worker among all men labourers, Seema Rani (28) draws everyone’s attention. However, Rani goes about her work as mason as usual. Undue attention doesn’t bother her as she has been in the profession for the past 10 years.

“Initially, I started working as a labourer for Rs 50, but gradually I became a trained mason and now I am earning Rs 550 every day,” says a proud Rani. With her hard work, she has married her younger sister and providing education to her brother, who is in Class XI. — TNS
