Moga, February 23
With the Congress sweeping the municipal elections in the state, Lok Sabha member and senior AAP leader Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said the poll verdict could not be considered as a referendum on the performance of the state government.
He was in the district to meet the newly elected party councillors and hold a discussion on the proposed kisan mahapanchayat at Baghapurana town on March 21. The AAP leader chalked out a strategy for the Assembly poll due in February next year.
Mann said the issues for the local body poll were different from that of the Assembly elections. It might not indicate a public impression on the performance of the state government.
He accused the Congress of misusing official machinery during polling and creating an atmosphere of terror among the people.
Earlier, Mann held a meeting with senior leaders, including Jarnail Singh, Raghav Chadda, MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Prof Baljinder Kaur, and others to discuss the strategy for the forthcoming Assembly poll by taking feedback from local workers and leaders. They discussed ways to strengthen the party.
“The people of the state want a change. To meet their aspirations, the party is formulating strategies to build an indispensable team,” Mann said.
The AAP leader said their aim was to meet all stakeholders involved in the recent local body elections and motivate them to keep fighting for the people of Punjab.
“We will create a stronger organisation and try to live up to the expectations of the masses to make Punjab once again a prosperous state,” the AAP leader said.
