The Akal Takht has called off the August 1 meeting of the five Sikh high priests after its officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj’s brother-in-law died in a road accident.
The meeting was to be held to hear out Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Language Department Director Jaswant Singh, who were summoned for an explanation over a dance gig at a state event held to mark the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur in Srinagar.
Akal Takht secretariat incharge Bagicha Singh said a fresh date would be conveyed to both soon. After the resolution of issues between the Akal Takht and Takht Patna Sahib, Gargaj was to travel to the Bihar-based shrine. This three-day visit to Bihar also stands cancelled.
