Forecasting heavy rains in Punjab, the weather department has issued an orange alert in Punjab for June 29 and a yellow alert for the subsequent three days.

Over the past 24 hours, the state experienced light rains at a few places and heavy rains at isolated places, which kept day temperatures below normal by up to 4.4°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday that light to moderate rain was likely at many places in Punjab on June 29 and at most places from June 30 to July 2.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places during these days, along with thunderstorm and lightning.
