Three floodgates of the 150-year-old Madhopur headworks were washed away as 2.12 lakh cusecs of water reached there after heavy rainfall in the Ravi’s catchment area on August 28.

Goyal said Level 19 Biz Private Limited, which was engaged in 2024 to assess the structural strength of the gates, “wrongly certified these as capable of withstanding 6.25 lakh cusecs of water”.
