Local Bodies Minister Ravjot Singh has marked probe into alleged irregularities in the Sangrur Municipal Council.
Ram Chand Singh Grewal, a Sangrur-based lawyer, alleged that officials of the Sangrur Municipal Council along with staff of the engineering wing allowed number of owners to construct structures in violation of the building bylaws.
The violations caused a loss of Rs 10 crore to civic body, claimed Grewal in his complaint submitted to the minister. He added that promoters of several illegal colonies had not complied with mandatory conditions and sold plots by getting the maps sanctioned from the MC. The complainant said certain builders had also got illegal water and drainage connections.
