Minister releases 'Health Days' calender

State Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu released a calendar for 2020 — Health Days — here today. Managing Director, PHSC, Manvesh Singh Sidhu was also present on the occasion.
The minister said all important health days, weeks, fortnights and months had been marked on the calendar, which was a first-of-its-kind initiative by the department. The calendar contains information about 64 international/national/state health days observed in Punjab, four health weeks, two health fortnights, three health months, in addition to the gazetted Punjab Government holidays. The objective is to make people aware about health issues.
He said the calendar would be displayed in all government health institutions of the state and would also be made available in other district-level offices like those of the Deputy Commissioners, Revenue Officers, DEOs etc. He instructed health officials to make sure that these days were observed and special awareness drives were undertaken on such days.
The minister also reviewed the functioning of the Health Department. He said under the Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, about 40 lakh people had been issued e-cards in the state and over 1 lakh people had availed themselves of its benefits. He said an amount of Rs 101 crore had been spent on their treatment till now.
