Punjab Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora on Sunday assured that those behind the murder of Abohar businessman Sanjay Verma would be given the strictest punishment possible.
The minister said this after paying tributes to the slain businessman at a prayer meeting here.
Verma was shot dead on July 7, after which gangster Aarzoo Bishnoi had allegedly claimed responsibility for it through a Facebook post.
While the three assailants in the case are still at large, two other accused — Jaspreet and Ram Rattan — were killed in a crossfire when a police team was attacked by their accomplices to ensure their escape.
Arora said multiple police teams were probing the case. “The government has a zero-tolerance policy against gangsters and criminal elements won’t be spared,” he added.
‘Govt hosting gangsters’
Slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh lashed out at the AAP government, alleging that it “hosted gangsters”. He also termed as baseless ruling AAP’s accusation that BJP governments around the country were “protecting gangsters”.
