Minor molested, 6 booked

The district police on Thursday booked six persons, including two women, for allegedly molesting a minor. The victim said she used to go to the house of the accused, Supriya, who forced her to take drugs and also made her obscene movie and blackmailed her. The accused have been identified as Jaspreet Singh, Manjinder Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Jatinder Singh. TNS

1 booked in Rs 1-cr fraud case
The district police on Thursday booked a man, Rohit Kavatra, a resident of Sector 20 in Chandigarh, for allegedly duping several people of Ropar of Rs1 crore in the name of a lucky draw scheme. Madhavi Jain of Ropar town, along with many others, had lodged a complaint against Rohit and his relatives, alleging they had started a lucky draw scheme in 2013. A case has been registered against Rohit at the Ropar city police station. TNS

Girl ends life in hostel room
A 20-year-old BSc nursing student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel room at the University College of Nursing on Thursday. She hailed from Burj Dhuna village. The cause of the suicide is yet to be ascertained. TNS
