Balwinder Singh, a resident of Shajrana village, alleged he had been robbed of Rs 3.20 lakh on the link road of Chahlan to Tahliwala Bodla village.

Balwinder’s uncle, Bishamber Singh, the sarpanch of Shajrana village, said Balwinder was returning to his native village after collecting a payment of Rs 2.20 lakh from his friend from Ladhuka village. He said Balwinder had a total of Rs 3.20 lakh cash with him, including the Rs 1 lakh he had taken from home to clear a payment for a plot that he had purchased.

Bishamber said when Balwinder reached the Chahlan-Tahliwala Bodla link road, some people sitting in a car parked in between the roads threw red chilly in his eyes and decamped with money.

Bishamber Singh said they had informed the police.

The Arniwala police station SHO, Lekh Raj said the occurrence of the incidence was yet to be established. He said the victims had initially informed the police; however, they did not turn up later on.
