Missing man's body found in canal, four booked

Fatehgarh Sahib, August 19

The body of a man, who had been missing, was found in the abandoned area of SYL canal, near Chuni town. The victim has been identified as Manjit Singh (23), a resident of Ladpur village, near ​​Mandi Gobindgarh. The police have registered a case against four persons under Sections 365 and 302 of the IPC.

SHO Prem Singh said Balwinder Singh, father of the victim, had lodged a complaint with the police that his son had gone on his motorcycle to meet his friends on August 14, but he did not return. He said acting on the complaint, the police had registered a case against four men for abducting Manjit. He said the police recovered a video, in which the four men, including the victim, were going somewhere on a motorcycle and a scooter.

He said the decomposed body of the victim was recovered from the SYL canal of Chunni area. He said on the statement of the family members, the case registered earlier had been converted into a murder case against the four accused. He said the accused had been identified as Prince, alias Joga, Amandeep Singh of Mohalla Sangatpura, Mandi Gobindgarh, Harpreet Singh, alias Aman, and Gagandeep Singh, alias Nikku, a resident of Panjoli Kalan village of Fatehgarh Sahib.

The SHO said as per the family members, the accused killed Manjit, threw his body in the dry SYL canal, and started searching for him, along with them.
