Moga, June 20

After failing to clear IELTS, a 20-year-old girl allegedly ended her life by consuming a pesticide at Nathoke village in Moga’s Baghapurana subdivision, the police said today.

Deceased’s father Balwinder Singh told the police that his daughter wanted to go to Canada for higher studies and settle there, but despite repeated attempts she could not clear IELTS exam. She went into depression and took the extreme step, he claimed.

The police initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174, CrPC, and handed over the body to the kin.
