Moga police arrests Bambiha Gang operative, recovers .32 bore pistol after encounter

A case has been registered against Aman Kumar and further investigation is underway

The Moga police claim to have arrested Aman Kumar alias Amna, an operative of Bambiha group and resident of Tiwana Kalan in Fazilka district. He had a criminal history, including cases of robbery and extortion. Last month, along with an accomplice, he had fired shots at Panchayat member Balour Singh’s house in Dala village in Moga.

Police claimed that acting on a tipoff about his movement, a police team tracked him near Ramuwala Kalan village in Moga today. Upon seeing the police vehicle, the suspect pulled out a .32 bore country-made pistol and fired three shots at the police while taking cover near a water reservoir.

In response, the police fired two shots in self-defence. One of the bullets hit Kumar in his right calf as he attempted to flee and he was arrested by the police.

The injured suspect was immediately taken to Civil Hospital, Moga, for treatment. A case has been registered against him and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend his accomplices.
