In a befitting tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, a sculptor from Ghal Kalan in Moga is making a bust of the statesman.
The bust, which is being sculpted by Manjit Singh, will be ready in a fortnight. It will be installed at Desh Bhagat Park in Moga. “I am making the bust in recognition of the values the former PM had upheld,” said Manjit. He said, “I felt very sad on learning about the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and started making his bust. He was known for his honesty,” he said. “Even though Dr Manmohan Singh is not with us, he will continue to guide and inspire us,” he added.
Manjit was posted as a senior gazetted officer in the Department of Archaeology and Museums, but quit the job to pursue his passion. He made sculptures of famous Indians, including Lal Bahadur Shastri, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Baba Bulleh Shah and ex-President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
