According to a complaint lodged by Nachhatar Singh, president of the society, the accused secretary, Paramjit Singh, misappropriated the money deposited by farmers in their accounts. Instead of depositing these amounts into the respective farmers’ accounts, he allegedly kept the funds with himself.

The fraud came to light when the farmers checked their arrears at the end of the crop season and discovered discrepancies in their account balances.

Nirmal Singh, the investigating officer in the case, said a detailed probe has been initiated to determine the full extent of the embezzlement. He added that following the revelation of the fraud, the accused secretary has agreed to repay the amount and deposit it in the farmers’ accounts.
