Moga village sarpanch Narinder Kaur invited to Republic Day celebrations in Delhi
Narinder Kaur, the sarpanch of Chuggawan village in Moga district, has been invited to attend the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi as a special guest. This recognition comes in honour of her leadership in managing the village’s water supply scheme and her dedicated efforts to improve the quality of life for its residents.
Under her guidance, the water supply scheme in Chuggawan was successfully implemented in collaboration with the Water Supply and Sanitation Department. The initiative ensures clean drinking water for approximately 497 households, benefiting around 2,700 people, along with three Anganwadi centres and two government schools.
Narinder Kaur has also spearheaded infrastructure improvements in the village, including the creation of a park at the waterworks area, which has become a popular recreational space for residents. She also initiated the installation of nameplates displaying household heads' names and water connection numbers at each house, promoting transparency and accountability. Regular monthly meetings are held to ensure the smooth operation of the scheme.
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal praised Kaur’s dedication and innovative approach, saying, “Her leadership has significantly improved the lives of the people in Chuggawan. She has set an inspiring example by prioritising essential services and community welfare.” He added the district administration would continue to recognise individuals and organisations making a meaningful impact.
“It is an honour to represent Chuggawan and Moga at the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. This recognition motivates me to continue working for the betterment of my village,” said Kaur.
Her participation in the Republic Day event not only highlights the progress made in Chuggawan but also serves as an inspiration for grassroots leaders across the state to drive positive change in their communities, added the Moga Deputy Commissioner.
