The victim, a resident of Bhaloor village under Baghapurana sub-division here, said she was divorced in 2014 and later met Gursewak Singh, a resident of Khoonan Khur village of Muktsar district, who would often visit her at her village.

“He developed physical relations with me after promising to marry me,” she alleged in her complaint.

The medical examination of the woman at the district hospital confirmed rape.
