The Mohali police have arrested two members of the criminal gang run by designated terrorist Lakhbir Landa and Gurdev Singh Jaisal.
Those arrested were identified as Avtar Singh (21), a resident of Tarn Taran and a Class XII pass-out, and Amarbir Singh (20) of Khadoor Sahib.
They were arrested on January 15 for involvement in several robbery and extortion cases. Five pistols, 13 live rounds, and a snatched car from Ludhiana’s Sahnewal have also been recovered.
According to the police, Ekamdeep Singh Brar of Patiala had complained that on January 8, he and his friends were chased by three youths on a bike on their way to Mohali.
The accused fired on the complainant with their illegal weapons with an intention to kill and snatch his car, the police said.
All three accused had come on a bus from Khadoor Sahib to Rajpura to join a farmers’ protest at the Shambhu border of Punjab and Haryana on January 7. They had snatched the bike from a person after firing two rounds at him on the Rajpura-Ambala highway.
