Mohali, July 26
A special court of the NIA yesterday framed charges against 10 Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) operatives under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in a case related to the murder of Shaurya Chakra awardee Balwinder Singh Sandhu.
Gurjeet Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Sukhmeetpal Singh, Navpreet Singh, Harbhinder Singh, Sukhraj Singh, Ravi Dhillon, Jagroop Singh and Akashdeep Singh Dhaliwal have been charged under Sections 120B, 201, 212 and 302 of the IPC and the Arms Act and Sections 16, 17, 18, 18B, 20, 23, 38, 39 and 40 of the UAPA.
The special court discharged Rakesh Kumar, Prabhdeep Singh, Chand Kumar and Ravinder Singh as the NIA did not find any evidence against them.
The NIA said the execution was done to strike terror in the minds of people, especially those opposed to the Khalistan ideology. The conspiracy was hatched by Pakistan-based KLF chief Lakhvir Rode and others who provided arms, ammunition and funds to the accused. — TNS
